New Auction Technique

I'm going to try a new auction technique. I'm going to have people fill out a form, put their name, email, and how much they would be willing to pay for a giant "Legalize Marijuana" stencil.

I will take the results from the form which are fed into a spreadsheet and determine the highest bidder. I will let everyone know how much money the highest bidder is willing to pay. I will not reveal the identity of the highest bidder.
Then we will have people bid again, if they really want the stencil, they will have an opportunity to out bid the highest bidder.
I'm not sure if I should just give it to the highest bidder after the first attempt to out bid the highest bidder. If you outbid you win, if you don't out bid, the highest bidder wins.
I was thinking people would appreciate hearing how much the highest bidder is willing to pay several times.

Here is a link to the form where you can write how much you would be willing to pay for a giant "Legalize Marijuana" stencil.

I will let everyone know how much the highest bidder is willing to bid regularly.

When we find out who the highest bidder is, I will ask the highest bidder to private message me a picture of a prepared envelope from them to me with a check or money order ready to go. When I receive the photo of the highest bidder with their hand next to an envelope, with a check or money order, I will mail the stencil.

update: All of the money I get from selling the "Legalize Marijuana" stencil will go towards "marijuana is safer than alcohol" t-shirts that will be given away for free.

  1. Curious, Jared. For less confusion, is it much trouble to update the bid page form on a regular basis with the current winning bid posted RIGHT THERE on the bid page form? Would require monitoring, which could be done via notifications. Happy to help with this. Please let me know ...

    1. excellent idea, I should be indicating the current highest bid right there on the bid form.

    2. I'm not sure if this will be clickable, but if you go to the form now, you will see that the current highest bid is on there.
