Safer Shirts has been giving away t-shirts that say "marijuana is safer than alcohol" for free for a long time. I became a non-profit after about 2 years of giving away shirts.
In my first year as a non-profit, I spent over $7,000 making and mailing t-shirts to people around the world.
That same year I received about $1,500 in donations.
That means I gave shirts to a lot of low income cannabis activists who can not afford to make a donation.
Luckily there are a lot of people who donate all the time even though they are not getting a shirt mailed to them in exchange for their donation.
I have one person who donates $4.20 every month, and they do not receive anything in exchange for that, other than the joy of seeing pictures of people wearing safer shirts posted through my various social networking pages.
I have another person who donates $25 every month and they do not receive anything in exchange for that. They know their money is being put to good use because they can see the photographic evidence on Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, etc.
I also advertise for businesses who donate to me. I've received donations from Bloggers I promote their work.
I've received donations from Safe Access points, I promote them on my various social networking presences.
I try to reciprocate as much as possible in advertising value whenever I receive donations from businesses.
Businesses can donate with cash, blank shirts, fabric paint, rolls of stencil material, etc.
Use this contact sheet if you would like to donate to Safer Shirts in exchange for advertising.
I set up safershirts.org with ads in the margins hoping to get a little more money to help cover the cost of providing free t-shirts to low-income activists around the world.
I receive about 60% of the ad revenue from Ads on safershirts.org.
The way Google Adsense works, I do not get my first paycheck until after I have earned $100 through ads.
I have only earned about $78 so far. As soon as my first check comes in I will drive to my shirt guy and get 40 shirts for $200, or $5 per shirt.
Then I will pay about $4 per shirt to mail them out to low income activists.
If you can not afford to donate at http://bit.ly/safershirtsdonate1
Please read blogs on safershirts.org
Please tell your friends to read blogs on safershirts.org
If I get enough traffic on the site, and I have people looking at advertisements I will get paid, I will use that money to give free t-shirts to low income activists around the world.
Thank you very much.
